Admission Requirements for All Programs

Advanced Diploma Program Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to the Advanced Diploma in TESOL program at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia must satisfy the following requirements:

(a) Every applicant must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent one;
(b) An applicant must have TOEFL of 500 or IELTS of 5.5, or pass the PUC Upper-intermediate English Placement Test for non-PUC students.
(c) For PUC students and others who don’t have the above official TOEFL or IELTS score, an applicant must successfully complete year 3.
(d) For native speakers of English, English proficiency requirement is unnecessary.

 

Admission Process

Documents to be sent to Testing Center (TC)
To apply for a bachelor’s program, students must submit all the required documents below to the TC.

Required documents:       

1. PUC’s registration form + two photos (4 x 6)
2. A copy of high school diploma or associate degree certified by the City Hall
3. A copy of National Identification Card, passport, or birth certificate
4. A receipt showing the payment for the registration fee of USD $2.50

On admission, and prior to enrollment, the student will sign a letter agreeing to comply with PUC academic policies and regulations and to pay all charges: tuition, fees, and textbook costs as required.

Associate Program Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to an associate degree program at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia must have completed high school grade 12 and have taken the High School National Exam (with either “PASSED” or “FAILED” results).

Admission Process

a. Documents to be sent to Testing Center (TC)

To apply for an associate program, students must submit all the required documents below to the TC.

Required documents:       

1. PUC’s registration form + two photos (4 x 6)
2. A copy of high school certificate (showing the “passed” or “failed” results), certified by the City Hall
3. A copy of National Identification Card, passport, or birth certificate
4. A receipt showing the payment for the registration fee of USD $2.50

b. PUC English Placement Test (PEPT)

* For TESOL Associate Program

Students must earn a passing score on PEPT test or have successfully completed IEAP Level 4, GESL Level 12 or EHSS Level 12 at PUC-IFL before enrolling into a TESOL associate program.
On admission, and prior to enrollment, the student will:
Sign a letter agreeing to comply with PUC academic policies and regulations and agreeing to pay all tuition charges, fees, and textbook costs as required. 

 

Bachelor’s Program Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission to a bachelor’s degree program at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia must hold a lycée baccalaureate, high school diploma or an equivalent diploma from an accredited institution.

Admission Process

a. Documents to be sent to Testing Center (TC)
To apply for a bachelor’s program, students must submit all the required documents below to the TC.

Required documents:       

1. PUC’s registration form + two photos (4 x 6)
2. A copy of high school diploma or associate degree certified by the City Hall
3. A copy of National Identification Card, passport, or birth certificate
4. A receipt showing the payment for the registration fee of USD $2.50

b. PUC English Placement Test (PEPT)

Students must earn a passing score on PEPT test before enrolling into a bachelor’s program.
PEPT test can be waived on one of the following conditions:

 

1.    For PUC English Diplomas

Within 2 years from the date of receiving the diploma (for IEAP, GESL and EHSS), students can enter a bachelor’s program directly through the Enrollment Office. 

2.    For PSIS High School Certificates

Within 2 years from the date of receiving a high school diploma (with a transcript as evidence):

  • If the students have studied for 4 years or more at Paññāsāstra International School (PSIS), starting from grade 78 or 9, they can enter a bachelor’s program directly by filling in the registration form at Testing Center.
  • If the students have studied for 3 years at Paññāsāstra International School (PSIS),starting from grade 10, they have to take a writing test and/or an interview at Testing Center. If they have good writing and/or speaking skills, they can enter a bachelor’s program directly by filling in the registration form at Testing Center.

 

However, for the students who have studied for 2 years or less at Paññāsāstra International School (PSIS), starting from grade 11 or 12, they cannot get a test waiver, so they have to take PEPT testat Testing Center.

3.    For Standardized Tests: TOEFL, IELTS & TOEIC

Within 2 years from the date of receiving the test score, students with the following scores can enter a bachelor’s program directly by filling in the registration form at Testing Center:

TOEFL paper-based                 500                        
TOEFL computer-based           170                        
TOEFL internet-based              60                            
IELTS                                        5.5                         
TOEIC                                       620 (TOEIC Bridge is NOT accepted)

On admission, and prior to enrollment, the student will:
Sign a letter agreeing to comply with PUC academic policies and regulations and agreeing to pay all tuition charges, fees, and textbook costs as required. 

 

Master’s Program Admission Requirements

Applicants seeking admission to a master’s degree program at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

A. Required documents to be sent to Department of Academic Affairs (DAA)

1. A PUC application form + two photos (4x6)
2. Two certified copies of bachelor’s degree
3. A certified copy of bachelor’s transcript
4. A copy of resume/CV
5. Two recommendations from current/previous professors and/or supervisors from the workplace
6. One personal statement
7. A receipt showing the payment for a non-refundable registration fee of USD $5 for a local student or USD $20 for an international student

B. PUC Graduate Admission Test (PUC-GAT)

Students must earn a passing score on PUC-GAT test before enrolling into a master’s degree program. However, PUC-GAT can be WAIVED on ONE of the following conditions: 

1. PUC English Diplomas

Within 2 years from the date of receiving the diploma (for IEAP/GEST/EXS), students can enter a master’s degree program directly by filling in the application form at the DAA.

2. Bachelor’s degree from PUC

With a bachelor’s degree from PUC, students can enter a master’s degree program directly by filling in the application form at the DAA.

3. International Tests: TOEFT, TOEIC & IELTS

Within 2 years from the date of receiving the test score, students with the following scores or higher can enter a master’s degree program directly by filling in the application form at the DAA.

- TOEFL paper-based 550
- TOEFL computer-based 210
- TOEFL internet-based 80
- TOEIC 690 (TOEIC Bridge is NOT accepted.)
- IELTS 6.0 

C. Interview

Applicants are required to have an interview at the Faculty of Education.

CREDIT TRANSFER

- Applicants may request credit transfer from another master’s program of an accredited higher education institution. The transferred courses must be of similar quality to that of the PUC M.Ed. courses.

- The applicants shall submit the request with supporting documents to the Faculty of Education dean, who will make decisions within the credit transfer policy framework of the MOEYS and/or ACC.

 

Ph.D. Program Admission Requirements 

Applicants seeking admission to the Ph.D. program in Educational Planning, policy, and Management must hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution.

A. Required documents to be submitted to Department of Academic Affairs (DAA)

- A PUC application form + three photos (4x6)
- Two certified copies of master’s degree
- A master’s degree transcript with cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4-point scale
- A certified copy of bachelor’s degree
- A copy of bachelor’s degree transcript
- A certificate or transcript showing computer skills
- An updated CV
- Two recommendation letters from professors (form provided by the Faculty of Education)
- A recommendation letter from an immediate work supervisor (form provided by the Faculty of Education)
- A research sample (e.g., master’s thesis, research report, course research paper)
- An initial research proposal (concept note) that clearly indicates a topic and focus, problem statement, research questions, significance of the study, research methods, and time frame (guidelines provided by the Faculty of Education)
- A personal statement (essay) explaining the reason(s) for pursuing this Ph.D. program (guidelines provided by the Faculty of Education)
- A receipt showing the payment for a non-refundable registration fee of USD $20 for a Cambodian student or USD $50 for an international student

 

B. PUC Graduate Admission Test (PUC-GAT)

Applicants must earn a passing score on the PUC-GAT test. However, the PUC-GAT can be waived on one of the following conditions:

1. The applicant holds a master’s degree from PUC, or

2. The applicant holds an international English proficiency test report with the following score or higher:

- Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) 550
- Computer-Based TOEFL (CBT) 210
- Internet-Based TOEFL (iBT) 80
- TOEIC (TOEIC Bridge is NOT accepted.) 690
- IELTS 6.5

C. Interview

Applicants are required to attend an interview at the Faculty of Education.
