Never fall down

Never Fall Down, a novel by Patricia McCormick, tells the true story of the Cambodian Living Arts Founder, Arn Chorn Pond, when he was a child during the time of the Khmer Rouge regime.

Originally in English, the Khmer translation was edited by Var Sam Ath, President of the Cambodian Writers Association, and was officially released June 25 under the auspices of the U.S Embassy-Phnom Penh, Cambodian Living Arts, and Paññāsātra University of Cambodia.
This is the tragic story of Arn, whose family was abandoned and killed during the Khmer Rouge period, and how he struggled to survive. He was brought to the U.S and educated well; however, he never forgot his home country. In 1990 he returned to Cambodia. Eight years later, because of his love of art, Arn established the Cambodian Living Arts association with the purpose of training young Khmers to learn, love, and preserve Khmer culture.
“Since I revealed my tragic story about the Pol Pot time, I can see my life has changed from being aggressive and moody to being reasonable and gentle. Now I have learned how to smell the flowers, which I had never done before,” said Arn in tears.
“A good novelist is one who can describe the actor’s attitudes toward the society,” commented Mr. Var Sam Ath.
It was noted that PUC and the U.S embassy are good partners in many projects. Enhancing reading and writing is a project which the Embassy is working on now with PUC.
